Drivers choose SUVs for a wide range of purposes. The catch-all sport utility vehicle could be expected to carry a cabin full of family and friends across the country on a road trip, or it may need to tow a boat out to the coast for some weekend fun. Even if it’s just going to cruise through Panama City on the daily commute, it still needs to offer safety and comfort, and it shouldn’t cost a bundle in the process. If you’re looking for a vehicle that can handle any of these duties or all of the above, then the Chevrolet Traverse has you covered.
This roomy three-row SUV can easily seat eight passengers with an abundance of interior space, and it comes loaded with modern technology to keep everyone connected and entertained. If you would like to see how the Traverse fits your needs, you’re welcome to come take it for a test drive at Bill Cramer Chevrolet Buick GMC.
For 2020, Chevrolet has equipped the Traverse with the user-friendly Infotainment 3 system, which allows easy access to popular features like Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™, and Bluetooth®*. They have also reinforced the Traverse’s safety functions by adding a seatbelt buckle reminder to their Teen Driver system.
The standard Traverse can seat up to eight people, and you’ll find plenty of space for adult passengers on all three rows. The airy cabin promises plenty of headroom and legroom, and all the seats are both well-cushioned and supportive. As a convenient family vehicle, the Traverse can accommodate small children with two full sets of LATCH car seat connections in the middle row, plus three additional tethers in the back row.
Cloth upholstery and a middle-row bench seat come standard, and you can customize the Traverse’s interior with available features like leather upholstery, heated seating, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The Traverse’s trim range offers a variety of popular features, and available tech options include satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, Bose sound, and navigation. Available safety features include rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, forward automatic emergency braking, and others.
The standard Teen Driver system allows you to set speed and volume controls if you have other drivers behind the wheel, and it now requires the driver to buckle their seatbelt before switching into drive. The rear-seat reminder alerts you via smartphone if you exit the vehicle with something important in the back seat.
The Traverse’s cargo capacity stands out in its class, and you’ll find 23 cubic feet available behind the third row. If you fold that row, the area expands to 57.8 cubic feet, and if you fold both passenger rows, the 2020 Traverse offers a total of 98.2 cubic feet of storage.
Under the hood, the Traverse sports a 310-horsepower V6 engine coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The pair provides ample power for acceleration as well as smooth transitions on city streets or on the highway. The SUV’s ride is uncompromisingly smooth, even when the roads ahead turn rough. Despite its size, the Traverse also maneuvers impressively well, and its handling is reliably responsive. When equipped to tow, it can pull up to 5,000.
Chevrolet added the Traverse to their lineup in 2009, appealing to a wide audience with its unique blend of crossover, sport utility, and minivan qualities. The timing proved to be perfect, as drivers across the U.S. had expressed a booming demand for crossover vehicles. Four years later, the Traverse began its second generation, arriving on roadways with fresh technology, a capable engine and enhanced performance.
A 2018 redesign introduced the SUV’s third generation, and the Traverse now sports modern, eye-catching design and a host of contemporary tech features like a touchscreen with smartphone integration. It also offers hearty engine options that deliver all the power that Chevy is respected for.
